# mova-whale-answer

The groupant beside tools/whale/src/answer.rs in the Mova repository: what the code computes, what it never does, how to go back from its outputs, its invariants, cost and checks.

## Facts

- **kind:** groupant
- **status:** partial source bound model
- **source:** [`tools/whale/src/answer.rs`](https://github.com/ElamurAI/mova-free/blob/main/tools/whale/src/answer.rs)
- **source SHA-256:** `64b9b0c56b5feca5…`
- **repository folder:** [`tools/whale/src/answer.rs.groupant`](https://github.com/ElamurAI/mova-free/tree/main/tools/whale/src/answer.rs.groupant)
- **repository commit:** `48f2e6f74146`

> **Implementation material.** A Mova code model describes this code at one source revision: partial models, finite checks and their stated scope. It is not a reviewed general exposition, and its labels are shown as written, never raised.

## Components

| component | label | where |
|---|---|---|
| **approximant** | partial | [Forward approximant](#forward-approximant) |
| **ast** | partial | `syntax.json` |
| **composition** | partial | [Composition](#composition) |
| **cost** | partial | [Cost](#cost) |
| **descriptant** | present | [Descriptant](#descriptant) |
| **invariant** | partial | [Invariant](#invariant) |
| **tests** | finite evidence | `tests.md` |

## Obernants

The typed relations around the forward model: the behaviour complement (what the code never does), the reverse reconstruction (every input compatible with an output) and specialised views.

| id | type | label | where |
|---|---|---|---|
| `behavior_complement` | behavior_complement | partial source derived model | [behavior_complement](#behavior-complement) |
| `reverse_reconstruction` | reverse_reconstruction | partial source derived model | [reverse_reconstruction](#reverse-reconstruction) |

## Model text

### Descriptant

The Whales' English: deterministic sentences for describe, count, status (service and source), show and pause/resume, over mova_octopus::realize. Source: `tools/whale/src/answer.rs`.

### Forward approximant

Structured results (Outcome list, count/status/show/marker JSON) -> sentences with number agreement (noun_count, be), lists, could_not, utc/thousands; opening(text, max) drops Markdown headings and cuts at a sentence end.

### Invariant

Each sentence states only what its input says; unknown fields fall back to neutral words, never invented values.

### Cost

Linear in the result size.

### Composition

Parent: whale-workers; called by animal.rs Hands.

### behavior_complement

Not done: summarizing a description (show quotes its opening), languages other than English, paraphrase variety. Evidence status: source-derived model with finite checks, not a proof.

### reverse_reconstruction

From an answer one recovers the counts, ids, titles, states and paths it names; the structured JSON alongside it is the authority. Several inputs can give the same sentence (e.g. missing vs zero counts). No unique inverse is claimed.

### tests.md

Command: cargo test --manifest-path tools/whale/Cargo.toml --offline: answer::tests (2) and the served English test (2026-11-04).
These are finite fixtures; no live teacher or Whale run; not a proof.
